Abu Dhabi is officially welcoming international travellers and returning citizens and residents back, and have set in place limitations as a precautionary measures due to surge in cases of COVID-19 worldwide.
UAE citizens and residents can now enter the Emirate within 72 hours of getting a negative test result on their PCR or DPI test. For those that are staying for more than six days, they will have to get tested on the sixth-day of arrival at Abu Dhabi.
Those that do not comply with the rules are liable to receive fines.
Volunteers from the National Vaccination Programme or from Phase III clinical trials are exempt from these measures, if bearing identification marks, letter 'E' or the gold star on the ALHOSN app, and are authorised to use the emergency lanes in Abu Dhabi.
For international travellers, before departure, travellers need to present a negative test 96 hours before the flight is scheduled to leave. A PCR test also has to be taken upon reaching Abu Dhabi. Countries are classified into groups and reviewed every two weeks. Countries currently on the green list can enter without having to quarantine but will have to follow the mandatory testing and precautions, whereas other countries will have to quarantine and test after arrival.
If you are travelling from a green country, you need to self-isolate till the results come back negative. People travelling from countries that are not on the green list will have to quarantine for mandatory 10 days.
Those staying for more than six days will have to take the test on day six and if the trip is planned to be extended even further, will need to keep getting test every six days.
Abu Dhabi will increase the number of testing centres outside Abu Dhabi and will close testing centres at entry points.
