Motorists across Dubai can park for free on Friday, 28 August 2026, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced.
The exemption applies to all public paid parking zones across the emirate, excluding multi-storey parking facilities. Paid parking rules will resume on Saturday, 29 August. With Sunday remaining a standard free parking day, residents navigating the three-day weekend will enjoy two days of free parking.
Public transport schedules and administrative services will operate under revised holiday hours. Both the Red and Green lines of Dubai Metro will operate from 5am on Friday until 1am the following morning, and Dubai Tram services will run from 6am on Friday until 1am the following day.
Commuters using buses around Dubai and intercity services are advised to check the S'hail app for updated schedules. Intercity route E100 from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station will be suspended through Sunday, 30 August; passengers travelling to Abu Dhabi should use route E101 departing from Ibn Battuta Bus Station.
Customer Happiness Centres will be closed on Friday, though smart kiosks in Deira, Al Barsha, Al Tawar, Al Kifaf, Umm Ramool, and RTA Head Office remain accessible 24/7. Vehicle testing centres close on Friday, with standard operating hours resuming on Saturday.
