Dubai residents will soon be able to book verified home gardening and landscaping services through the Careem app following the launch of a new government-backed initiative, 'Al Freej Gardener'.
The platform, officially announced by Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police General Headquarters, and the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai, in collaboration with Careem, is designed to regulate and standardise home gardening services across the emirate. The service is scheduled to go live within the Careem app in September 2026.
Through the integrated service, householders will be able to arrange routine lawn and garden maintenance, full landscaping and home garden design, irrigation system installation and repair, and agricultural consultancy from approved specialist firms.
The inter-agency partnership establishes strict operational, licencing, and security standards for all participating service providers:
- Dubai Municipality oversees sector governance, quality benchmarks, and the promotion of sustainable landscaping practices suited to the local climate.
- Dubai Police coordinates security standards and awareness campaigns to ensure home visits in residential neighbourhoods follow approved safety protocols.
- GDRFA Dubai supervises visa and employment compliance to guarantee all gardeners are legally registered and cleared to work.
- Careem builds, operates, and manages the digital booking interface within its existing app ecosystem, onboarding vetted partner companies.
The formal memorandum of cooperation was signed by senior leadership, witnessed by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai; and Engineer Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality.
Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, noted that the platform aims to provide residents with dependable, high-quality home services while raising safety and professional standards across Dubai.
