Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a major traffic expansion in Al Mizhar 4, adding a third lane to a stretch of road spanning more than one kilometre from Tunis Street towards Amman Street. The infrastructure upgrade increases total road capacity by 50 per cent and reduces peak-hour travel times by 25% for motorists.
The newly expanded road offers faster access to Amman Street, one of the area's primary commercial and transport arteries. The extra capacity directly targets bottlenecks that routinely build up during morning and evening rush hours along the Tunis Street exit.
The work forms part of the RTA’s ongoing initiative to deploy quick, targeted traffic solutions in fast-growing residential communities without causing prolonged disruption to daily travel.
Alongside the lane expansion, the RTA confirmed it is actively studying a "Rat Running" management scheme tailored for Al Mizhar 4. The project aims to prevent motorists from using quiet residential streets as shortcuts to bypass main road traffic.
By combining targeted road widening with internal traffic management, the authority aims to preserve neighbourhood safety, protect residential streets from heavy overflow, and maintain smooth traffic flow across Dubai's wider road network.
