Passenger train travel across the United Arab Emirates expanded on 30 September 2026, following the opening of Etihad Rail's Dubai Station.
The national rail landmark was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, alongside His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail.
Ahead of the official ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, boarded the train in Abu Dhabi to complete the inaugural passenger journey to Dubai, inspecting onboard services and operational readiness.
The opening of the Dubai Station marks the rollout of commercial passenger services connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah and Sharjah. Located in proximity to the city's key corridors, the newly opened station serves as a multi-modal transport hub designed to link the intercity rail network directly with local transport networks.
For residents commuting between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the service offers an efficient alternative to highway driving. The station connects directly to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station via a dedicated pedestrian bridge. Passengers can also use Dubai's Nol system to book and pay for integrated journeys spanning Etihad Rail, Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, and bus routes through a single QR code.
Tickets are available to the public via the Etihad Rail mobile application, official website, and station vending machines. Standard Fares start at Dhs 39 for Comfort Class and Dhs 109 for Premium Class.
