There is new development in the cinema industry that will be welcome by all those cinema-goers who cannot stand it when other members of the audience take phone calls or continuously tapping phone screens while watching a movie.
Very soon, cinema patrol staff will ask them to leave. Happy cinema viewing experience coming soon.
UAE cinema chain, Vox Cinemas, has revealed its plans to launch "distraction-free screenings". In the announcement made on Twitter regarding the quieter viewings, Vox Cinemas said, “No texting, talking or tapping – It’s an all-new experience made to immerse you in your favourite movies."
In the distraction free cinemas, phones either have to be switched off or on silent mode at all times during the film. There will be dedicated ninja-like staff members checking the audience at all times, and who ever being spotted by them taking the calls or making tapping noises will be asked to leave.
Rules are quite simple, if you think the call is urgent, step out of the cinema to take it.
Vox Cinemas has plans to roll out this new initiative in Vox at Mall of the Emirates, and to begin with, Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood, The Current War and The Kitchen will be the first films to be screened without distractions.
