Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the second phase of its project to upgrade waiting areas at five major marine transport stations at Al Fahidi, Baniyas, Al Seef, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Bluewaters.
The upgrades aim to improve comfort, accessibility, and overall customer experience. Enhancements include air-conditioned waiting areas, dedicated spaces for People of Determination, and modern safety features such as surveillance systems and fire alarms.
Inspired by traditional wooden abras, the new designs blend Dubai’s maritime heritage with its modern urban identity. The initiative is part of RTA’s broader strategy to support sustainable mobility, encourage public transport use, and enhance quality of life.
These marine stations connect directly to key residential communities and integrate with other transport modes like buses, metro, and tram, helping reduce traffic and offer smoother travel across Dubai.
The project also follows the Dubai Universal Design Code to ensure accessibility for all, reinforcing RTA’s commitment to inclusivity and world-class service.
