Dubai Police have issued a fresh alert through their Twitter account warning UAE residents to protect themselves from online fraud by not sharing their personal bank details including debit card, credit card and personal identification number (PIN) with unknown people over the phone, specially when anyone calls to give you good news that you have won some exciting prizes. It is a trap.
The tweet on Dubai Police handle @DubaiPoliceHQ reads, "Remember that scammers seek your money through "fake prizes”. Never share your debit/credit card number and PIN.
This online fraud whereby scammers gain unauthentic control over someone's bank account by tricking them into sending their personal information is called phishing.
