World-famous footballer Lionel Messi, Expo 2020 Dubai global ambassador, can be seen in a new video campaign promoting Expo 2020’s message of global togetherness to build a better future.
In 60-second video Messi and people of different nationalities, can be seen connecting through the language of football as they keep the Expo 2020 ball in the air through teamwork. The video was shot in the UAE, India, the UK and Kenya by a team of different nationalities. The video-led campaign celebrates cultural diversity and its ability to break down barriers. The music was composed with an Arabic melody and a call for togetherness is in an African dialect.
Lionel Messi said, “A football team can only succeed by working together, and the same is true of humanity. When people from different nations, cultures and backgrounds come together we can better address global challenges and create a brighter future for generations to come.”
As part of the initiative, Expo 2020 will also give 2,020 durable footballs to children in Jordan, Kenya and the Philippines, totalling 6,060 balls.
Expo 2020 is scheduled to take place in October 2020 and will run through six months until April 2021. 196 countries have confirmed the participation and Expo tickets will soon be available to purchase.
