Dubai government has passed a new regulation that allows the payment of select Dubai government fees and fines in instalments. The Executive Council Resolution No. (5) of 2019 was passed under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.
According to the report published by government news agency, WAM, the new rule will speed up the process of the collection of government fees and fines along with providing financial support to individuals and entities due to make payments.
The list of fines and fees that can be paid in instalments will be submitted to Dubai’s Department of Finance for approval.
Once the list is approved, it will be published in the Official Gazette.
The fees that can be paid in instalments must be over Dhs 10,000 for individuals and Dhs 100,000 for businesses, and the fines must be over Dhs 5,000 for individuals and Dhs 20,000 for businesses. The instalment period must not exceed two years except when the Department of Finance may grant exception in response to a petition from the concerned government department.
