The Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has announced a reduction in the taxi flag down rate by 75% for passengers arriving at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) for 45 days from 16 April to 30 May. During this period, the southern runway of Dubai International Airport (DXB) will close down for renovation work and many flights will be diverted to DWC, increasing traffic at the airport by as much as 700%.
However, thanks to DTC, the taxi ride at the end of your flight for the final leg of your journey will be a little cheaper.
The taxi fares at DWC during this 45 day period will start from Dhs 5 instead of the regular airport taxi rate of Dhs 20. Additionally, DTC has introduced a new service that allows you to share a taxi. So, if you happen to find someone going in same direction as you, you can opt to choose to share the taxi and save some extra money as well.
Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation, “We have also introduced a shared taxi service at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC); which will reduce the fare for arriving passengers. As such, it is now possible for more than one rider to share a taxi from Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) to multiple destinations. The step will ease the mobility of passengers, reduce the waiting time and save expenses.”
