Bloom World Academy has recently introduced a pioneering AI BTEC (vocational course) qualification, mandatory for students aged 14 and older. This initiative marks Bloom World Academy as the first school in the UAE to implement such a program, leading the charge in innovative education. The course aims to equip students with essential skills to thrive in a future where AI technologies play an increasingly prominent role.
From August 2024, AI will be integrated as a fundamental element of Bloom World Academy's curriculum for all students aged 14 and above. The BTEC course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive theoretical understanding and hands-on skills in AI, encompassing ethical aspects, machine learning, and practical applications across diverse industries. This initiative will be seamlessly integrated with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, augmenting Bloom World Academy's pathways program and ensuring that students benefit from a dynamic and forward-looking education.
What Will The Course Include
- The course at Bloom World Academy will offer 20 to 40 guided learning hours per academic year, focusing on AI technologies such as image generation, content creation, automation, and relevant AI software.
- Students will gain practical knowledge of AI ethics, emphasising responsible AI use and the ethical considerations surrounding AI technologies.
- The curriculum aims to equip students with the skills necessary for emerging job roles in AI specialities, data analysis, and software engineering.
- By fostering an understanding of AI and its ethical implications, Bloom World Academy aims to nurture responsible young minds capable of developing and managing effective and ethical AI systems.
Students studying the AI course will graduate with a BTEC International Level 3 Specialist Award in Artificial Intelligence: a globally recognised qualification.
John Bell, Founding Principal of Bloom World Academy, underlines the importance of this initiative: "In an era where AI is rapidly transforming every aspect of our lives, it is crucial that we equip our students with the knowledge and skills to not only use these technologies but also to innovate and lead in their respective fields. Our commitment to carefully integrating AI into our curriculum reflects our dedication to preparing our students for the future, facilitating their ability to change the world through informed and ethical use of technology."
The launch of this initiative at Bloom World Academy is in line with the Dubai government's visionary efforts, which recently unveiled a pioneering program to train teachers in the application of AI across schools in the Emirate.
