Motorists heading to Al Warqa can expect a much faster drive starting in June, thanks to a major road upgrade from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The new direct entry and exit point connecting Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to Al Warqa will reduce travel time from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes, an 80% decrease. The journey distance will drop from 5.7km to just 1.5km.

The upgraded connection is designed to handle 5,000 vehicles per hour, easing congestion and streamlining access to one of Dubai’s fastest-growing residential areas.

In addition to the new road link, Street 13 in Al Warqa 1 has already been upgraded to improve traffic flow near schools and residential zones, as part of an ongoing 8km internal road development project

Also, upgrades to the internal road networks in Al Warqa 3 and 4 are completed, which includes new pedestrian walkways, pavements and walking spaces and also new cycling tracks. RTA also recently completed internal road enhancements around the School of Research Science in Al Warqa 4 and near GEMS Royal Dubai School.

By the end of the year, the RTA also plans to replace roundabouts in Al Warqa 1 with smart signalised intersections, aiming to improve traffic flow by up to 30%

This series of upgrades are part of RTA’s broader plan to keep the city moving smarter and faster.
