His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has given the green light for a Dhs 530 million expansion of the 'Dubai Schools' project, aligning with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The expansion includes a new school in Al Khawaneej and the ongoing expansion of the 'Dubai Schools' Al Barsha branch. This addition will bring over 6,400 seats, 295 classrooms, and 123 specialised classrooms, contributing to a total of 15,000 seats by 2033.

Commenting on this expansion project, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan said, "Aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are committed to establishing an innovative education system in Dubai that is capable of nurturing and empowering capable future leaders. By fostering a culture of educational excellence, we aim to equip our youth with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. The new initiative to expand the ‘Dubai Schools’ project will contribute to ensuring that the emirate’s school offerings meet and even exceed global benchmarks of educational excellence."

The initiative supports the goal of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 to enhance the quality of education in Dubai and position it among the world’s top 10 cities, focusing on building a world-class education system with increased school capacities, technological investments, and a focus on innovation and creativity.

The 'Dubai Schools' project, represented by the Al Khawaneej and Al Barsha schools, has seen remarkable growth since its inception in the academic year, welcoming students from 38 distinct nationalities. The newly planned Al Khawaneej school, spanning 446,720sqft, is designed for 4,028 students from kindergarten to grade 12, featuring state-of-the-art facilities and amenities, including indoor pools, sports halls, a football pitch, outdoor courts, and a spacious library.

The Al Barsha branch expansion will add 2,408 seats through 98 classrooms, featuring indoor pools, sports halls, outdoor courts, and additional classrooms.

The projects, jointly led by the Knowledge Fund Establishment and Dubai Municipality, have achieved a 50% completion milestone, targeting readiness for the academic year 2024/2025. Launched in March 2021, the 'Dubai Schools' project aims to offer a high-quality and affordable education model while promoting national values in the Emirati schooling system.
