Set in the grounds of Le Royal Méridien Beach Resort and Spa in Dubai Marina, The Beam is the latest restaurant from established British chef Nick Alvis, and it is already getting a lot of attention. Opened in February 2025, this laid-back yet stylish bistro brings a refreshingly unpretentious vibe to Dubai’s dining scene.
The Beam is instantly inviting with many seating options for guests, whether it is a table indoors, in the garden or on the outside lawned terrace area, all ideal for lazy lunches or sun set dinners. The welcoming bar in the centre of the restaurant, sets the tone for a no rush experience before sitting down for a meal in a setting that is between casual and refined.

The menu leans into simple, seasonal ingredients, with nothing overly fussy, where quality produce speak for themselves. A highlight is the fish market, where the daily catch is prepped as soon as ordered. Our starter included a very tasty and well-seasoned venison tartare and a serving of dill cured sea trout, followed by mains of a saddle of lamb and perfectly grilled sea bass chosen from the fresh fish counter, finished off with desserts of baked custard tart and poached rhubarb crumble served with soft serve ice cream.
The menu clearly demonstrates Nick Alvis many years’ experience in Dubai at Table 9 and more recently Folly. Along with the attentive and friendly service, The Beam offers something refreshingly grounded and thoroughly enjoyable, suitable for a meal for any occasion. It is the sort of place you’ll want to come back to, not just for the food, but for the whole atmosphere.
