Dubai Police Shares Data Of E-Scooter Accidents, Urges Residents To Follow Rules

Dubai Police used their social media platforms to remind residents to adhere to the regulations when using electric bicycles and e-scooters in the city. They also provided statistics, indicating that in the last eight months, there were 32 accidents caused by improper use of these vehicles. Unfortunately, these accidents led to five fatalities and 29 injuries to various road users, including two severe, 14 moderate, and 13 minor injuries.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, explained that 10,031 fines were imposed on riders of electric bicycles and e-scooters during this period. He also stressed the importance of bicycle and e-scooter riders adhering to safety measures.

In the video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Dubai Police highlighted common violations that included riding e-scooters on main roads, including underpasses, going against the traffic flow, carrying passengers on an e-scooter, and minors under the age of 16 riding e-scooters.

Dubai Police is encouraging residents to obey traffic regulations, including respecting traffic laws, staying on designated paths, avoiding roads with speeds over 60 km/h, wearing helmets and reflective jackets, following traffic signals and road signs, and equipping their rides with bright white and reflective lights at the front and bright red and reflective lights at the rear.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui also emphasised that all road users, including drivers, passengers, and pedestrians, have the right to use the roads safely and highlighted the force's dedication to ensuring the highest levels of compliance with traffic regulations, making the roads of the Emirate safer.
