Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi is all set to return to the UAE on Monday, 18 September after successfully completing a historic Arab space mission. He will return to the UAE after spending six months at the International Space Station (ISS). His homecoming news was announced by Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre on Thursday, 14 September.
Sultan Al Neyadi landed back on Earth on 4 September, and since then, he has been recovering in Houston, Texas, and now, he is all set to return to the UAE. Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share this news.
“After astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi carried Zayed's Ambition to space, it is now time for his homecoming. Stay tuned for his return to the UAE on 18 September, following the completion of the longest Arab space mission in history,” the MBRSC posted on X.
In the UAE, Sultan Al Neyadi will meet with leaders, do roadshows and partake in celebrations and activities before heading back to the US to continue his debrief.
Sultan Al Neyadi achieved a lot of firsts during his time in space. He spent a record 186 days in outer space, conducted over 200 scientific experiments and engaged in over 1,000 hours of space operations. Sultan Al Neyadi also became the first Arab astronaut to perform a Spacewalk.
