In its Annual Report for the period of 2022 to 2023, Emirates announced its most profitable year for business.
The airline recorded high profits of Dhs 10.9 billion, compared to the Dhs 3.8 billion loss from the previous year in 2021 to 2022.
The revenue increased by Dhs 119.8 billion, and the cash balance was reported at Dhs 42.5 billion.
During that period, the workforce also increased by 20% to 102,379 employees, from 160 different nationalities.
Dhs 7.2 billion was also invested into the company during the 2022 to 2023 financial year, with new aircraft, facilities, equipment and the latest technologies, solidifying its future growth.
In previous years, Emirates has shared a percentage of profits for the year with its staff, and though nothing official has been announced, it is reported that Emirates staff could get a 24 week bonus.
The one off payment will be will benefit over 100,00 employees and will be part of their May salaries.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group said, "I’m proud of the Emirates Group’s performance for 2022-23, and our contribution to the restoration of air transport and tourism across the markets we serve, including Dubai’s astounding 97% year-on-year growth in international visitors for 2022. The Group is the biggest player in the UAE’s aviation sector, which supports over 770,000 jobs and generates an estimated contribution to GDP of over Dhs 172.5 billion. With our growth plans, and in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, we expect to significantly increase our contribution to the UAE’s GDP over the next decade through direct and indirect employment, supply chain spending, tourism spend, and trade and commerce benefits from the movement of cargo."
