Review: A day at Al Maha Resort

Al Maha is nestled in a beautiful green oasis, deep within Dubai’s magical dune and desert landscape in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve and plays a vital role in its conservation. Al Maha showcases the heritage and architecture of the Bedouins and also offers a sense of desert adventure. And while the Arabian Oryx and the Gazelles are the star attractions of the reserve, there’s plenty more to see and do.

Having just moved house I was looking to relax and enjoy some fresh air, so I dropped by for the day for a little me-time. Even though it meant an early start I couldn’t resist going down to the equestrian centre to enjoy an hour’s hack through the reserve.

After a delicious breakfast, I spent a lovely few hours sunning myself by the pool before treating myself to the Sodashi Marine Mineral Facial. This heavenly facial reduces the appearance of dehydration lines, while the marine algae mask gives elasticity and increases cell renewal.

The spa indulgence package is priced at Dhs 1,000 per person and the equestrian package is priced at Dhs 1,350 per person. Both packages include the DDCR entrance fee, full day access to the main pool and spa facilities and lunch including soft drinks. Other packages starting from Dhs 275 are available. For more information, visit www.al-maha.com. -L.C.
