The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has issued guidelines for people testing positive for monkeypox.
The monkeypox infection lasts from 5 days to 21 days and is tested through a throat swab and a dry swab on the skin lesions.
Symptoms of the virus include swelling of lymph nodes, severe headache, fever, rashes, exhaustion and back and muscle aches.
Individuals that test positive for monkeypox must isolate in a separate room till results are received.
DHA will follow up with a call to inform the individual of the isolation procedure.
Individuals that have tested positive need to stay in isolation for 21 days and if symptoms worsen, they must visit the nearest medical centre.
On isolating at home, a first aid kit and thermometer should be available. The individual also needs to stay in a well-ventilated room with an adjoining bathroom.
Individuals that cannot isolate themselves at home will be placed in institutional isolation, with a medical team tending to their treatment.
