Dubai is taking a tech-driven step to keep its streets and public spaces spotless. Dubai Municipality has launched Eltizam, a new app that lets authorised government officials spot, photograph and instantly record cleanliness violations, along with adding notes and location tags.
In its first phase, Eltizam targets eight key violations that spoil the city’s look and harm the environment. These violations include habits like spitting in public areas, disposing chewing gum improperly, littering, dumping waste into the sea or beaches, barbecuing in unauthorised areas, posting flyers or advertisements in public areas, draining vehicle wash water in non-designated areas and failure to remove animal waste from public spaces.
By giving authorised inspectors such digital tools, Dubai is making it quicker to enforce rules and maintain its image as the cleanest city in the world. The move is also part of a bigger vision to make Dubai a global model for sustainable living and civic pride.
