Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has continued in its commitment to follow the fourth Sustainable Development Goal in providing quality education.
Despite the challenges faced due to the ongoing pandemic, Dubai Cares was able to follow out its mission on both a local and a global scale.
Dubai Cares was able to reach more than 20 million individuals in 60 developing countries with about 227 programs in 2020.
15 new programs were also launched including Education Technology, Teacher Training, Literacy and Numeracy, Early Childhood Education, Education in Emergencies, Girls Education, Tertiary Education, Youth and Skills, Infrastructure and School Feeding.
The UAE’s Ministry of Education along with Dubai Cares also organised 'Education Uninterrupted' which was a nationwide fundraising campaign where individuals could donate money to low-income families that could not afford laptops, computers or tablets to join distance learning.
Sacha Jafri, a British artist currently based in the UAE, has created the largest art canvas in the world and has been awarded a Guinness World Record for his art. In collaboration with Dubai Cares, the painting will be broken down and pieces of the canvas will be auctioned. The money that is raised from the auction will be donated towards education for underprivileged children.
