The Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, under a directive form HIs Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has made announcements that will allow citizens and residents to travel overseas, see residents stranded abroad return and permit tourists to visit the emirate.
Dubai residents, currently overseas since UAE borders were closed on 19 March, are ale to start returning Dubai from 22 June, and residents wishing to travel overseas are able to do so from 23 June and from 7 July tourists will be ale to visit Dubai.
Residents holding Dubai-issued visas are permitted to return to the emirate from Monday by booking flights on any airline, on the condition that they obtain a coordinated approval between the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) and the airline they book with. Before starting their journey, passengers must complete a ‘Health Declaration Form’ confirming they do not have symptoms of coronavirus COVID-19. The airlines have the right to not allow any passengers showing signs of any symptoms to board the plane.
Once residents arrive back in Dubai, they are required to register on the COVID-19 DXB smart app, register their full details and undergo a coronavirus COVID-19 test, and return to their homes, which they are not allowed to leave until they have received the results of the test. If the result is positive, they are required to isolate for 14 days.
Returning residents who live in shared homes or high-density housing facilities will be isolated at an institutional facility if they test positive, and the resident’s employer should make arrangements for the isolation facility in accordance with guidelines approved by the COVID-19 Command and Control Centre, or bear the costs of a paid isolation facility provided by the government.
Citizens and residents who want to travel out of Dubai, can do so without any restrictions and as long the destination country allows. Before they start their journey they are required to fill in a ‘Health Declaration Form’ confirming they do not have any symptoms of coronavirus COVID-19. Any passenger showing signs of any symptoms can be refused to board the plane.
Once they return to Dubai, citizens and residents are required to register on the COVID-19 DXB smart app, register their full details and undergo a coronavirus COVID-19 test, and return to their homes, which they are not allowed to leave until they have received the results of the test. If the result is positive, the arr required to isolate for 14 days.
International tourists travelling by air to Dubai must meet all requirements for entry to the UAE. Each visitor should download the COVID-19 DXB smart app and register their full details. Before they leave they are required to complete the ‘Health Declaration Form’ and also ensure they have valid health insurance. Airlines have the right to refuse boarding at the airport of departure if they are showing any symptom of coronavirus COVID-19.
Tourists coming to Dubai are required to do a coronavirus COVID-10 test no more than 4 days before they leave and will have to show proof of not being infected when they arrive in Dubai. If they are not able to provide proof, they will be required to do a coronavirus COVID-10 test at the airport.
Everyone arriving will undergo thermal screenings and if a passenger is suspected to have coronavirus COVID-19 symptoms, the airport has the right to re-test. All tourists that test positive for coronavirus COVID-19 should register their details on the COVID-19 DXB smart app and isolate at an institutional facility provided by the government for 14 days at their own expense.
All passengers using Dubai International Airport must follow the guidelines announced recently.
