Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) opens the Tripoli Road Improvement Project, which cuts the transit time of the 12km distance between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road to just 8 minutes.
The project is part of the 5 year plan of RTA projects to keep pace with the sustained development of Dubai.
Tripoli Road Improvement Project stretches 6.5 km from Tripoli Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road junction (near Mirdif City Centre) to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road and extends further about 5.3km up to Emirates Road in three lanes in each direction.
The new project will enhance road connectivity between Dubai and Sharjah and will give easier access to Al Warqaa and Mirdif districts.
It will reduce the transit time between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road from 11 minutes to 4 and a half minutes.
Further, it will divert 2,000 vehicles every hour during peak time from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Emirates Road, reducing traffic volumes on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road by 10%. It will reduce the transit time to enter Sharjah to 12 minutes, and bring down the waiting time at the intersection of Tripoli Road and Algiers Streets from 3 minutes to less than 1 minute.
