On its second anniversary, Dubai Opera has announced six new must-see shows which will be happening this year and early next year, and here is a quick look at what they are:
Arabs Are Not Funny - 1 November 2018
“Arabs Are Not Funny” will be back this year on 1 November, with an exciting new line-up of comedians. This time around, the audiences will be left in splits of laughter as Welsh-Egyptian comic, Omar Hamdi, Fatiha El Ghorri, Nabil Abdulrashid and Maria Shehata take to the stage. The comedians will be tackling slightly controversial subjects such as dating and Islamophobia with wit and humour. Tickets start from Dhs 95.
Guy Manoukian - 17 November 2018
The popular and talented Lebanese Armenian composer and pianist, also known as ‘Master of World Music’, will take the stage to perform his best pieces. Manoukian’s unique fusion of oriental melodies merged with modern arrangements, makes him one of the most relished artists of today. Tickets start from just Dhs 175.
Milos Karadaglic - 26 November 2018
Guitarist Milos Karadaglic has worked with many of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, performing in some of the greatest concert venues on the planet. He’ll be performing his new set, ‘The Voice of the Guitar’, that has been curated to reflect his musical journey and portray the things that are most important to him. Feeder - 27 November 2018
Ranked as one of the UK's most successful chart acts from the past 50 years, the classic British rock band will be treating audiences to a show filled with nostalgic hits from the 90’s and 00’s, including Buck Rogers, Feeling a Moment and Just the Way I’m Feeling, as well as their more recent songs including Another Day on Earth and Seven Sleepers.

Nutcracker and I - 12 December 2018
A beautiful and unique multi-media performance by pianist Alexandra Dariescu is a new take on the cherished story. On stage will be a grand piano, played by the talented Dariescu herself, with a ballerina dancing in the background behind a see-through gauze screen. Projected onto this screen and bringing the story to life, will be attractive digital hand-drawn animations, which follow the music and engage live with the pianist and the ballerina. BBC Proms at Dubai Opera - 19-22 March 2019.
Now in its 123rd year, the BBC Proms is a much-loved British tradition that aims to bring the best of classical music to the world. The iconic festival will be staged over four days from 19 to 22 March 2019, with charismatic host and BBC Radio 3 presenter Petroc Trelawny once again leading the five concerts of the BBC Proms Dubai 2019 towards the Last Night of the Proms – Dubai style. Tickets start from Dhs 75.
