Dubai Government has found out that most of the residency law violators seeking amnesty services entered the country on visit and tourist visas, and overstayed in the country violating the rules as they failed to find a job and did not have money to return home. In order to bring down these cases, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) is planning to introduce a special visa for job seekers, and will also toughen the scrutiny processes of issuing visit and tourist visas.
The authority plans to introduce a three to six month-long visa for job seekers. However, the job-seeker visa would require applicants to submit a security deposit, which according to the authority will ensure that the visitor returns home after the visa is expired. The authority has also urged the respective foreign embassies to bear the cost of the flights of visa defaulters as, they generally do not have enough money to purchase a return ticket.
The authority will run continuous inspection campaigns to check on visa violators after 31 October, the day the amnesty services end in the UAE.
