The second public holiday of the year, Israa Wal Miraj, is coming up next weekend, and in accordance with that a dry weekend has been announced. The Department of Tourism and Commerce confirmed that there will be a dry day from 6pm on Friday 13 April until 7pm on Saturday 14 April, when some events and live entertainment is likey to be cancelled.
The holiday marks the Accession of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). .
There is also the possibility of this day being marked with a holiday, however as Islamic holidays are decided by the lunar cycle, a holiday is yet to be announced, but will be confirmed nearer to the time.
