Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun a trial run of a smart inspection vehicle designed to monitor rail right-of-way areas, the strips of land along railroad tracks where railroad companies have legal access and control. Equipped with advanced intelligence systems and cameras, this innovative vehicle can detect violations, restricted activities, and damage within these zones, enhancing oversight and ensuring safety and compliance.
During the trial phase, new blue and white vehicles equipped with high-tech gear will be seen around Dubai Metro and tram lines. This initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency of daily inspections across all rail right-of-way areas related to the Dubai Metro and Tram networks by leveraging advanced technological systems.
Abdulrahman Al Janahi, Director of Rail Right of Way at RTA’s Rail Agency, noted that the smart inspection vehicle initiative, developed in collaboration with the Smart Services Department, marks a major advancement in RTA's efforts to protect Dubai's rail infrastructure.
“This technology will not only improve the efficiency of our inspections but also help us to quickly identify and address any issues, ensuring the safety and reliability of our rail services. The smart inspection vehicle uses artificial intelligence to keep up with rail network advancements,” Abdulrahman Al Janahi added.
The initiative aims to provide comprehensive coverage of inspection areas, double the speed of report preparation, and enhance the reliability of results. It also seeks to minimise human errors in the inspection process and offer strong support for making informed decisions.
