His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai has issued a decision to regulate public libraries in Dubai.
The resolution aims to enhance knowledge in Dubai by promoting a culture of reading, fostering a strong sense of national identity among the youth, and raising awareness of the importance of innovation and scientific research.
All public libraries in Dubai, including special development zones and free zones, as well as digital libraries, will be regulated.
Through the regulation, high-quality services, and human and technical resources that are needed for the establishment, operation and management of public libraries will be provided.
Various cultural, artistic and literary events and other activities will also be organised in public libraries.
Memberships will be open to all institutions and the public, and each subscription will last five years.
