The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched a new Dhs 1,000 banknote, in celebration of the 51st UAE National Day.
The note aims to improve the financial sector in the UAE and features new designs and advanced security features.
The banknote is made out of polymer paper, with the front side featuring the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan next to a model of a space shuttle, inspired by the meeting with NASA in 1976.
With the successful launch of the Hope Probe by the Emirates Mars Mission, at the top of the front side of the note, the words'Emirates Mission to Explore Mars - the Hope Probe' is written, along with an image of an astronaut added to both sides of the banknote, as a security mark.
The back portion of the note features a picture of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi, as it plays a vital role in diversifying energy sources and reducing carbon emissions.
The note is brown in colour and has the same colour scheme as the current note in circulation, making it easy to identify.
The current note will remain in circulation, with the new banknote available at Central Bank branches and ATMs during the first half of 2023.
