UAE residents looking to escape the city and gaze into the cosmos are in for a rare treat this weekend. On the night of Saturday, 21 June, Dubai Astronomy Group is hosting a four-hour astrophotography and stargazing session in Al Quaa Desert, Abu Dhabi, home to some of the darkest skies in the country.

Al Quaa Desert is located approximately two hours away from Jebel Ali or from Dubai South, but don't worry about the travel. Dubai Astronomy Group has arranged transportation to and from Al Quaa Desert for your convenience. All you need to do is get to Jebel Ali Metro Station by at least 6.15pm. Pick up from Jebel Ali Metro Station will be at 6.30pm and you will be dropped off back at the station by around 5am the next day.

Running from 10pm on 21 June to 2am the next day, the session offers astronomy lovers and families the chance to witness the Milky Way in breathtaking clarity, along with other celestial wonders, through powerful telescopes and a guided astrophotography session.

Participants will learn essential astrophotography techniques, including how to capture deep-sky objects and perfect their night sky compositions. With expert guidance and high-grade gear provided, it’s ideal for beginners and seasoned stargazers alike.

Registration will cost Dhs 200 per person, and an additional Dhs 120 per person for the transportation. For more details and registration, visit the Dubai Astronomy Group’s official website and secure your spot.
