Dubai is striking a new chord on the global arts scene with the launch of the Dubai Orchestra, a visionary cultural initiative approved by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
Led by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, in collaboration with public and private sector partners, the Dubai Orchestra is designed to both preserve the region’s musical heritage and encourage global artistic innovation.
A key ambition is to have Emirati musicians comprise 50% of the orchestra by 2033. The initiative also places strong emphasis on youth engagement through educational programmes and international partnerships aimed at nurturing emerging talent.
The Dubai Orchestra supports the emirate’s wider creative goals, including Dubai's Creative Economy Strategy and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which envisions a thriving, inclusive cultural scene at the heart of city life.
