Dubai is set to establish the Dubai Students Council (DSC), a 15-member body selected from across private schools to represent diverse student voices and help shape the emirate’s educational future.
Announced by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the DSC will include students from Grade 9 to Grade 12, with nominations open to all Dubai private schools. The initiative forms a key pillar of the Leaders of Tomorrow programme under the broader Education 33 strategy. DSC will act as a bridge between students and KHDA, ensuring ongoing dialogue and student-driven input into education reform.
Each school may nominate one student who meets specific criteria including good conduct, leadership potential, teamwork and communication skills, and active involvement in school or community initiatives. The final selection will be made by KHDA after a rigorous review process.
The initiative aims to empower students as active contributors, not just recipients, of education. DSC members will serve a one-year term starting in the 2025-26 academic year, with the option to reapply.
