A new 'Family Centre' feature has launched on Snapchat.
The feature in corporation with the Ministry of Possibilities in the UAE and Snap Inc. and will help ensure a safe environment on the Internet for children with the new parent control feature.
Parents and guardians will be able to monitor their child's activities and can view their child's friends and the people they are in contact with, without displaying conversations to ensure privacy.
Through the feature, parents will be able to report abusive or suspicious accounts to Snap's Trust and Safety Team, a dedicated unit that works to protect Snapchat users.
Snap has also launched new tools to encourage open and constructive conversations online.
The Family Centre feature adds another layer of protection, designed with children in mind.
With making sure children are friends before interacting with one another, keeping accounts private and not public to ensure safety from strangers and showing up as a suggested friend in rare instances, will help boost a child's security.
Snap plans to add more safety features to Family Centre in the coming months, including new content controls for parents and the ability for children to notify parents when they report an account or a piece of content to Snap's Trust and Safety team.
