The Michelin Guide is adding a new destination to its roster and is coming to Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi will be the 41st city to receive the Michelin Guide and will offer visitors and residents a choice of great dining spots from local Emirati eateries to fine dining.
The first Abu Dhabi Michelin Guide will be unveiled in November.
The restaurants are judged on the basis of five criteria, quality of the ingredients, mastery of the cooking, the balance of flavours, the personality of the chef throughout the cuisine and the consistency of the menu as well as the cooking at various times.
The Michelin stars have a range of distinctions, with one star awarded to restaurants with high-quality cooking that is worth a stop, two stars for excellent cooking that is worth the detour and three stars are awarded for exceptional cooking that is worth a trip to the restaurant.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides said, "The Michelin Guide inspectors have been working in Abu Dhabi for some time now, discovering and enjoying the rich and varied cuisines that the city has to offer, from creative and cosmopolite dishes to more traditional cuisines of the region, like Middle Eastern, Lebanese, and of course Emirati. The inspectors have relished the diversity and quality of all that the gastronomy of Abu Dhabi has revealed, and they can’t wait to share their discoveries with our community of international gourmets."
