Dubai Police have advised parents not to leave their children unattended in a car, especially during the peak summer heat.
Since the beginning of 2022, the Land Rescue Teams at the General Department of Transport and Rescue have rescued 36 children from locked cars.
As temperatures can reach up to 70ºC, locked cars can lead to struggles in breathing as well as a risk to their lives.
Leaving a child by mistake or running errands is a punishable offence.
Butti Al Falasi, Director of the Security Awareness Department at Dubai Police said, "We've spotted, on several occasions, parental negligence that thoughtlessly leaves children unattended inside cars either by mistake or to run errands unaware of the grave danger. Moreover, we urge parents and guardians not to leave their vehicles easily accessible and unlocked for children, so they do not climb into and lock themselves inside."
