The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced that a new fish market has opened.
Located in Mina Zayed in Abu Dhabi, the fish market is in collaboration with Modon Properties.
As Abu Dhabi has been the hub of fishing trade for over 40 years, the fish market incorporates designs from its history.
The fish market features 104 fresh fish stalls, 8 dry fish stalls and 44 fish cleaning stations.
A supermarket with four fruits and vegetable stalls and three commercial kiosks is also available.
Additionally, 8 restaurants allow shoppers to enjoy delicious meals while shopping.
Dr Salem Al Kaabi, Director-General of Operations Affairs at the DMT said, "The new venue reflects the legacy of Abu Dhabi's fish trading and fishing industry, which is well-known in the region. DMT considers the preservation of cultural elements to be an integral part of the emirate's urban development strategy to achieve sustainable development."
