Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has informed the public to not park vehicles under metro viaducts.
Over 400 drivers were contacted to move their vehicles and 17 vehicles were towed on failure to move them within the hour.
Cautionary signs have been added to raise public awareness and ensure vehicles do not violate them.
Drivers should instead use designated parking spots rather than parking under metro viaducts.
Osama Al Safi, Director of Rail Right-of-Way, Rail Agency at RTA said, “The casual parking of vehicles under the metro viaducts distorts the urban and tourist outlook of the city. These bridges are not just concrete structures to support the elevated metro tracks, they are rather an integral part of the architectural fabric of the emirate and a feature of its advanced public transport network."
