Passport Renewal Window Extended For UAE Citizens

WAM / X

Starting Monday, 18 August, UAE citizens will be able to renew their passports up to one year before the expiry date. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced the change, extending the previous renewal limit of six months.

The decision, issued by His Excellency Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the ICP, aims to give citizens greater flexibility for travel and official transactions. By doubling the renewal period, residents can plan trips well in advance and avoid last-minute documentation issues.

The service will be available through the ICP’s smart services platform, ensuring a quick and secure process. His Excellency Al Shamsi also noted that the move reflects the UAE’s commitment to world-class public services and proactive solutions for its citizens.

The UAE passport, ranked as the most powerful and trusted travel document globally, stands to gain further prestige with the new policy.
