The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced the dates for the midday breaks that taev to be given to workers during summer.
The breaks will run from 12.30pm to 3pm.
The initiative is to ensure the safety of workers and reduce the risk of working when temperatures are at their highest.
The change will come into effect from 15 June and run till 15 September.
Certain jobs such as those that tend to emergencies can continue, with workers provided with cold water and first aid kits.
Additionally, a shaded area should be provided for workers to rest during downtime.
Fines ranging from Dhs 5,000 per worker to Dhs 50,000 will be given to companies for not complying with the midday break.
