Over 1 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been transported through Emirates SkyCargo.
Since the first trial vaccination shipment in October 2020, over 4,200 tonnes of vaccines have been shipped to 80 locations globally on around 2,000 flights.
Emirates SkyCargo in August 2020 began mapping out a plan for shipment for the potential vaccinations.
In January 2021, Emirates SkyCargo along with Dubai based companies, formed the Dubai Vaccine Logistics Alliance to distribute vaccines to developing countries.
Through an agreement with UNICEF in February 2021 to deliver COVID-19 vaccines, by early April 2021, more than 50 million doses of vaccines were transported.
With the increase in the need for vaccines, by September 2021, delivery of 250 million doses was reached, and by December 2021, 600 million doses were delivered.
