Dubai International Airport has been named the world's busiest airport for 2021, for the eighth time in a row.
Despite all the hurdles faced regarding travel in the midst of a pandemic, 29.1 million passengers travelled through the airport, surpassing expectations.
In 2021, the Dubai Airshow 2021 was held making it the first airshow to take place since the pandemic, Terminal 1 - Concourse D and Concourse A reopened and the largest airport laboratory to process COVID-19 PCR tests was opened.
The airport also introduced new airlines connecting Dubai to various locations.
The top country for passenger volume was India with 4.2 million followed by Pakistan at 1.8 million passengers.
