Updated Protocols For Close Contact

WAM

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee along with the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center has updated the protocol for people that test positive or come in contact with a positive person.

Individuals that are in high-risk categories and test positive, need to visit one of the COVID-19 Prime Assessment Centres for a medical evaluation and protocols on isolation.

High-risk individuals can end isolation after either getting two negative PCR tests with a 24-hour gap or having PCR tests done on day 8 and day 10 and complete isolation with no symptoms in the last three days, after medical evaluation.

Individuals with mild or medium symptoms, need to isolate and then get a PCR test done at one of the health facilities in Abu Dhabi.

If the person tests positive, they will have a specialist contact them to complete the isolating procedures. If negative, they have to retest in 24 hours and on receiving two negative PCR tests can resume activities with precautions.

Individuals that are in close contact with a positive person will receive an SMS and will be required to get a PCR test done as well as self-register for home quarantine, via the link in the SMS.

Home quarantine for vaccinated individuals is set at 7 days with unvaccinated individuals needing to quarantine for 10 days.
