The UAE Government has announced that a four and a half day working week will be introduced for all federal government departments.
The annoucnment was made on the UAE Government Media Office twiiter account and the change will take into effect from 1 January 2022.
Individuals will work an 8 hour a day working week on Monday to Thursday from 7.30am to 3.30pm, and a 4 and a half hour workday from 7.30am to 12pm on Friday.
Friday prayers will now be held slightly later at 1.15pm throughout the year in the UAE.
Work from home options as well as flexible hours will be made available on Friday.
The change in the workweek will help encourage a better work-life balance and will also help increase productivity at work.
