The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the General Civil Aviation Authority has announced that entry for people travelling from seven countries in Africa will be suspended effective from 29 November.
The seven countries where entry is suspended from are Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The suspension of entry also applies to those travelling to the UAE who have visited these seven countries within 14 days.
UAE citizens, golden residence visa holders, diplomatic missions and official delegations are exempt from the suspension, however those travelling from these groups need to provide a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 48 hours before departure, a rapid PCR test taken at the airport within 6 hours of departure and a PCR test at the airport when arriving in the UAE.
All exempt categories except for official delegations need to quarantine for 10 days and also take a PCR test on the ninth day.
Official delegations will need to quarantine at the airport on arrival until the test results have been received, and can then continue with their visit.
