His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the Hatta Master Development Plan, which is a series of projects that aims to make Hatta a local and international tourist hub.
The plan will run over the course of the next 20 years, with the Supreme Committee, formed to oversee the development of Hatta.
Plans to conserve Hatta’s environment, its mountainous ecosystem and its cultural heritage will also be made by the Committee.
The Hatta Beach will feature a year-round attraction, with investment spaces and facilities, services and activities for tourists in waterfront areas.
A sustainable form of transport will be made available for individuals from Dubai planning to travel to Hatta. Travellers can also carry their bicycles and scooters in a compartment on board.
A ride-sharing service will use tourist coaches to showcase heritage sites including the Wadi Hub, Hatta Dam, Heritage Village and Al Tal Park.
The service will also include the provision of an on-demand bus service for exploring Hatta using a smart app and a smart car rental service, which enables cars to be hired on an hourly basis.
Tracks for bikes and scooters will also be created and will be linked to the key residential areas and attractions.
The longest bike track in the UAE will also be made with rest stops and service facilities available along the track.
Sustainable hotels will support tourism and sports activities, with a mountainside health resort built to provide tourists with the opportunities to practice sports and activities that are suitable to Hatta’s terrain.
The Plan also includes the development of a tourist funicular system, which is the first of its kind in the region to facilitate the movement of visitors to the dam site.
A staircase will be constructed to enhance access to the dam with several rest stops situated along the way.
