The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced the third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for immunocompromised individuals.
Individuals with moderately to severely compromised immune systems, have an active tumour and hematologic malignancy and have recently received treatment, recipients of a solid organ transplant or patients who have undergone Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), individuals with a severe case of primary immunodeficiency, people with advanced or untreated HIV and individuals undergoing active treatment with agents that are immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory, need to receive the third dose.
The third dose will help boost immunity for people that require it and will be administered to all individuals aged 12 and above in the given categories.
Currently, individuals that are fully vaccinated and do not have an immune disease, do not require the third dose and any new developments will be announced.
Patients need to consult their physicians in a government or private hospital in Dubai and need to get assessed.
If the third dose is required, the booking for the vaccine with be done at the same hospital.
