UPS, the Official Logistics Partner of Expo 2020, is expanding its onsite fleet with electrical assisted cycles also known as eCycles.
The company started in 1907, with the mission of making home deliveries on a bicycle, and has now gone back to its roots with eCycles.
The Fernhay eQuad, a four-wheeled e-assist quadricycle, arrived at Dubai International Airport to be used for demonstration and training at Expo 2020 in April.
The eQuads and the three-wheeled Rytle eBikes will serve the logistics needs of the participating countries and visitors during the six-month event.
The new vehicles will offer a more sustainable option and will help contribute to the improvement in the air quality, will decrease congestion, will reduce emissions and are great to navigate dense, highly trafficked areas.
Delivery of packages, documents and goods for replenishment will be done by trained riders and will operate between the five UPS customer counters, country pavilions and onsite warehouses.
Luke Wake, Vice President of Fleet Maintenance and Engineering at UPS said, “We are optimising our fleet with innovative solutions that enhance future use cases. With continuous investments in alternative fuel technology, we really are moving our world forward by delivering what matters – a cleaner and safer network and planet.”
