Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) along with the Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has announced that all electric vehicle owners can use green charger services when their electric vehicles (EV) are registered.

DEWA will create an EV account when the individual registers with the RTA and will inform about the account details.

Once registered, individuals can charge their vehicles at over 300 DEWA EV green charger stations in Dubai by using the DEWA smart app and scanning the QR code placed at public green charging stations.

Additionally, a DEWA’s EV green charger card will be delivered after registering for green charger services.

Non-commercial EV owners can charge their vevicles for free till 31 December at public stations with commercial EV owners in private and public sectors need to pay 29 fils per kilowatt-hour.

His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority said, “Protecting the environment, optimising the use of energy, and reducing carbon emissions are high on RTA’s agenda. We are prioritising these elements in implementation of the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai (Green Economy for Sustainable Development), UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. The initiative will motivate the use of environmentally-friendly vehicles and sustainable transit means.”
