Expo 2020 Dubai has unveiled the 'Programme for People and Planet' calendar which features the schedule of events, experiences, thought-leadership and public conversations that aim to find solutions to some of the most pressing problems facing our world.
The programme will run through the six months and will feature 10 theme weeks and 18 international days, with each of them exploring key issues of global significance.
The themed weeks will look for solutions to critical global challenges including mitigating climate change, biodiversity loss, making human habitats more sustainable, bridging the digital divide and ensuring equal access to education and healthcare.
Over 220 events will be a part of the programme and will be held through large forums, public conventions, seminars and workshops.
Visitors can explore the self-guided tours that will be available on the Expo 2020 app and will showcase the different ways countries, businesses and organisations are responding to the key challenges we are facing as a global community.
The five tracks will include the 'Build Bridges' track which will use storytelling, art and music to break boundaries and foster intercultural dialogue and knowledge exchange, the 'Leave No One Behind' track which will focus on how we can make the future better for everyone, the 'Live In Balance' track to help take steps towards getting rid of climate change, the 'Thrive Together' track which will highlight new business opportunities and the 'Vision 2071' track which will focus on a future to work together.
Nadia Verjee, Chief of Staff, Expo 2020 Dubai said, “Sitting at the heart of our World Expo, and taking place at a moment in time that could not be more urgent or opportune, the Programme for People and Planet is the manifestation of our theme and purpose, ‘Connecting Minds, Creating The Future’. It will not only form an essential part of our event-time activities but will also catalyse a one-of-a-kind movement to shape the legacy that Expo 2020 leaves the world, long after we close our doors, resulting in a meaningful and measurable impact for generations to come.”
